Before you start your study adventure, first find out whether you qualify for a partially or fully funded scholarship to cover your costs.

Total spendings may vary between €20,000 - €35,000 per year, depending on the study programme, the degree you pursue and the city you will live in. Don’t forget to add on top of this any other additional start-up costs for e.g. other extra spendings upon arrival, like furnishing, kitchen utensils or warmer clothes.

Living costs

The estimation in the overview below is based on the figures that are published by several Dutch universities. Do mind that the bigger cities are more expensive than the smaller cities.

Tuition fees

In general, International Business programmes are cheaper than Engineering programmes. For more details: check the tuition fees on the university websites.

Other institutional fees (optional)

Application fee, charged by some universities, €100, non-refundable.
Guarantee fee, for visa, first year tuition fees and introduction participation fees. Remaining money will be transferred to your Dutch bank account on your arrival.
Housing fee, charged by some universities if you let them arrange accommodation, to cover overhead, administrative costs and salaries for housing staff.

Other costs

English proficiency test.
Consular fees for the legislation and translation of required documents (necessary for your visa).
Visa €174.
